What it does

2: S = Is·[Ss·(Cb·Cw·Cs·Ca) + Sr]. Derives the basic factor Cb from roof characteristic length, the slope factor Cs by roof type and slope, the wind exposure factor Cw, and the importance factor Is, returning S for ULS and SLS with a full factor-by-factor breakdown. Accepts ground snow Ss and rain Sr from the Climatic Data Map (deep-link prefill).

What it does not do

Basic balanced (non-drift) uniform roof snow only. Step, parapet, and obstruction drift accumulation, sliding/unbalanced and partial-load cases are not covered - use the dedicated snow drift and snow load case tools. Reduced wind-exposure Cw eligibility is the engineer's responsibility.

Ss and Sr are user-entered and must be confirmed against NBC Appendix C.

How to use it

Use for preliminary uniform roof snow load. Verify climatic values, exposure eligibility, and all drift/accumulation cases before design use.

Use Roof Snow Load in your own projects

Every tool ships inside the CoLateral desktop workspace, so a result can stay attached to the project, the drawing, and the review trail it belongs to instead of ending up in a loose spreadsheet.

Outputs are design aids and stay in draft until a qualified engineer reviews and approves them.
