What it does
Check and design local reinforcement for existing open web steel joists subject to revised point loads, drift loads, RTUs, and member force increases. Computes factored/service line loads, simple-span moment and shear, point-load moment and reactions, chord force (M/d), web force (V/sinθ), CSA S16 style tension/compression/moment resistances, combined axial+bending utilization, a conservative fillet weld force-transfer screen, and a constructability checklist.
What it does not do
Screening / preliminary aid only - does NOT replace engineering judgement. Simple-span gravity model; composite action between existing member and reinforcement is never assumed unless the engineer confirms a connection/battening assumption (and then a review warning is raised). Weld module is a conservative single-strength fillet screen; verify directional strength and detailing.
Local chord bending uses a user-selected local span and end-condition factor and always requires review. Existing member sizes, steel grade, and weld access must be field verified.
