What it does
Checks torsional shear stress and utilization for HSS sections under point torques and UDL torsion. Computes the internal torsion diagram, support reactions, maximum twist, and a von Mises combined stress (torsional + coexistent transverse shear + bending) against phi*Fy with selectable Fy (300-450W) and phi. Torsional shear uses the closed thin-wall (Bredt) constants J = 4*t*Am^2/pm and C = 2*t*Am.
What it does not do
Screening only. Coexistent moment and shear enter a conservative von Mises combination, not a full CSA S16 member interaction. Thin-wall midline torsional constants (no corner radii), not CISC table values (within ~10% for square HSS).
Warping restraint ignored (appropriate for closed sections).
How to use it
Use as a screening check for pure torsion demand only. Verify combined member adequacy independently.
